Winter Romance, Radmoto Style: The Electric Puch Maxi Dream

At Radmoto, we live for big torque, good vibes, and stories that ride deep. This winter, we got to dive into a project that wasn’t just about engineering—it was about love, nostalgia, and a whole lot of voltage.

Meet Nicole and Bobby, two Radmoto regulars with a story that starts like many of ours: two teenagers, a moped, and summer nights with nowhere to be but everywhere to go. When they first started dating, one of them had a vintage Puch Maxi. That old-school moped became their ride of choice—and in many ways, the vehicle that moved their story forward.

Fast forward a decade or two. They're married, they’ve got kids, they drive an electric vehicle, and they’ve still got those same Puch Maxis in the garage. So when they came to us with a wild idea—to convert their old gas-powered mopeds into electric torque monsters—we knew this winter was about to get interesting.

The Build: When Nostalgia Meets Overkill

Let’s be clear—this wasn’t about mass production. This was a “let’s see what’s possible” kind of winter. With our shop quiet and the streets frozen, we let the engineering team loose. The result? A completely over-the-top, wildly impractical, and absolutely exhilarating electric Puch Maxi.

We’re talking:

  • Custom 72V 44AH 275A Amorge battery

  • QS205 hub motor (with statorade, of course)

  • Nucular P24F controller (capable of 27kW, 10,000W continuous)

The result? The bike wheelied. Like… a lot. So we dialed it down to a more manageable 8kW (which is still like 10x the original power output). Originally rated at just 1.5hp and topping out at a leisurely 25mph, this sleeper now blasts past 50mph and leaves most motorcycles in its dust—thanks to that instant EV torque.

And this is just version one.

Bobby Gets the Beast, Nicole Gets the Beauty

This first build is Bobby’s. Nicole’s version is coming next, and it’s going to be even more rad in its own way—think powder coating, upgraded disc brakes, fresh parts, and custom styling. We’re adding tasteful mods that balance performance and aesthetics, while also making it family-friendly. (Yes, we’re toning down the wheelies.)

Also worth noting: the variable regen braking on the rear is super powerful, but we’ll be beefing up the friction brakes to give it that extra bit of safety and confidence. It’s a fun evolution—watching the build grow, and knowing each one is crafted for the story behind it.

Why We Did It

At Radmoto, we’re not offering this as a regular product. It was never about that.

This was a winter project that let our engineering team go full mad-scientist, blending old-school charm with cutting-edge EV tech. It was about honoring a love story, a memory, and creating something completely one-of-a-kind.

And honestly? We loved every second of it.

Big shoutout to Bobby and Nicole for trusting us with their vision, and for reminding us why we started Radmoto in the first place—to build community through creative mobility.
