Hello Wildcats! We know how crucial your electric scooters are for zooming from class to class or just exploring the vibrant campus at the University of New Hampshire. That's why we're highlighting one of our recent repair jobs—replacing a rear tire on a Gotrax electric scooter.
Replacing the rear tire of a Gotrax scooter isn’t a walk in the park. These tires are notoriously stiff, making them incredibly challenging to mount. But hey, a little challenge never stopped us at Radmoto!
The Repair Process
Step 1: Diagnosis
Our first step in any repair is a thorough diagnosis. For this particular Gotrax scooter, it was clear that the rear tire had seen better days and needed a replacement.
Step 2: The Tools of the Trade
For this task, we had to pull out all the stops, utilizing:
- Heat: A heat gun or a hairdryer helps to soften up the tire, making it more pliable for installation.
- Lubricant: A bit of lubricant goes a long way in helping the tire slide into position.
- Benchtop Vice: This tool helps us hold the wheel steady while we work on it.
- Vice Grips: These are perfect for gripping the tire and pulling it into place.
Step 3: Time and Patience
Even for our seasoned technicians, replacing a tire like this takes around an hour. Yes, it's that stiff!
